GMG CoZone 2.2 - Production System Update

Release date
The GMG CoZone hosted system has been updated to version 2.2 on February 15, 2018.

New features

High-resolution approval support

Approval files uploaded to CoZone are rendered in the CoZone server environment. For a good balance of viewing quality and detail on one side and rendering performance and overall system load on the other side, rendered images were down-sampled to a maximum of 3,500 pixels width or length.

This setup enabled a very good viewing experience for the vast majority of approvals. For example, the 3,500-pixel size allowed excellent quality review of A4-size documents, showed very good results up to A2 (150 dpi) formats and, depending on the level of content detail, provided sufficient resolution for A1 or even A0 (75 dpi) approvals.

However, there has been a growing customer demand to review extremely large size formats such as banners of several meters in length, or poster-size artwork with fine print items for which the rendering resolution was sometimes insufficient.

CoZone 2.2 supports these use cases with a dual approach:

Increased general size limit
We doubled the general maximum rendering target size from 3,500 to 7,000 pixels, significantly extending the resolution details for larger formats.

Ultra-high-resolution (UHR) on demand
For cases where review and approval hinges on zooming in to and inspecting the finest details, ProofStudio now offers a new UHR (ultra-high-resolution) request button. The UHR button is only shown if the resolution of the approval file exceeds the 7000-pixels size limit and therefore had been down-sampled. When clicked, the approval will be persistently re-rendered on the server with length or width up to 15,000 pixels.
This process may take several minutes until the ultra-high-resolution image is available for viewing. During this time, some actions are disabled. Users can leave ProofStudio and work on other tasks, or wait in ProofStudio until a pop-up message announces that the UHR update has finished. The message includes a button to refresh the view and display the UHR image.

Zoom beyond 100%

In ProofStudio, the zoom controls allowed to zoom in up to 100%. Larger zoom values could be manually entered in the zoom field, but that was neither obvious nor widely known. In CoZone 2.2, the zoom pop-up menu has been extended with zoom levels up to 500%, and the Zoom In button now also works up to 500%.

Resolved issues

The following technical issues have been resolved in GMG CoZone 2.2. Please note that the list describes the problem, not the solution.

Missing characters in annotation report

In specific cases, before an empty text line, the last character at the end of a text line in an annotation text box was missing in the graphical annotation report (Details View). Newline characters are now processed correctly, so no text character is cut off.

Incorrect annotation numbers in annotation report

Annotation numbers in the graphical annotation report (Details View) were displayed as ‘0’. This issue has been fixed so that the annotation numbers on the annotation report match the numbers shown in ProofStudio.

File upload to the landing page not possible

When trying to add a file to the Downloads section of the New Features column on the CoZone landing page, the selected file was not taken, resulting in a missing file name error. In CoZone 2.2, files can now be uploaded as before.

Custom domain not saved

When an administrator specified a custom account domain name via Account Settings > Settings > DNS & Custom Domain > Add Custom Domain, entered the domain name and clicked Claim this domain, the domain URL was not saved. This now works as expected in CoZone 2.2.
